Cummins Delivers Offshore Heavy-Duty Equipment at Maritime Exhibition, Powering Customers to Explore the High-End Deep-Sea Market
2025/12/6

On December 2, 2025, the opening day of China International Maritime Exhibition, Cummins, a global leader in marine engine systems for boats, and Shanghai Oxinnuo Shipping Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Oxinnuo"), an emerging force in China's offshore equipment industry, reached a significant cooperation. The two parties officially signed an agreement, under which Cummins will provide core power support for Oxinnuo's planned "2+2+2" 7200kW high-end anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels. Equipped with an all-electric propulsion system, these boats will all be fitted with Cummins QSK60 marine engines, and the "4×QSK60" unit configuration will lay a solid foundation for the vessels' high-level dynamic positioning capability.

QSK60: The "Reliable Heart" of Offshore Heavy-Duty Equipment

As a power equipment tailor-made for high-load and long-duration offshore operations, the QSK60 marine engine has taken reliability as its core indicator since the design stage. With a power range of 2200-2950 horsepower and stable operation capability of tens of thousands of hours, it has become an ideal choice for offshore equipment. In terms of environmental protection and economy, this marine engine not only meets the IMO Tier II emission regulations but also achieves a perfect balance between excellent fuel economy and full-life cycle cost advantages. It is highly aligned with Oxinnuo's concept of providing "fuel-saving + reliable" dual-benchmark boat assets for offshore shipowners.

This cooperation is not only a direct recognition of QSK60's product strength but also highlights the market's full trust in Cummins' overall technical strength and sound service system. A relevant person in charge of Cummins stated that facing the future, the company will continue to focus on innovation-driven development, localized deep cultivation and global synergy, and help China's shipbuilding industry step into a greener, smarter and more international deep-sea era.

QSZ13 & QSK50: "Powerful Leaders" in Localization Advancement

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Cummins' development in China, and its strategy of deeply cultivating the Chinese market is fully reflected in its product layout and service system. Cummins has a full range of marine engines and unit product lines. Through its global production bases, it can provide customers with marine main engines and generators with power ranging from 47kW to 3150kW, fully responding to the diverse needs of the marine market. In terms of technological innovation, the company continues to launch diesel marine engines with higher power and lower fuel consumption, while making efforts in cutting-edge products such as multi-fuel platform engines, methanol engines and hybrid power systems. In terms of service network, the sound domestic and international service system has become a solid backing for Chinese customers to expand the global market.

Chai Ruimin, General Manager of Industrial Market, Cummins China Power Systems Business Unit, emphasized: "Our strategy has always been closely linked with China. While inheriting the world-leading power technology, we are accelerating the improvement of localized R&D and manufacturing capabilities to better serve the Chinese market and provide reliable, efficient and green customized solutions." The locally manufactured QSK50 marine engine is a typical achievement of this strategy.

With a power range of 1700-2400 horsepower, the QSK50 is equipped with a high-efficiency supercharged low-temperature intercooled intake system and adopts modular high-pressure common rail fully electronic fuel injection technology. It not only has lower fuel consumption but also better adaptability under low-load conditions, and can be widely used in scenarios such as power generation, main propulsion and diesel-electric propulsion. Since its launch two years ago, this marine engine has won high praise from customers. A shipowner representative in charge of supervision at Hangtong Shipyard said bluntly: "The overall performance of QSK50 exceeds expectations. It has outstanding fuel economy, responds quickly and operates stably when facing load fluctuations. Its low noise and low vibration characteristics have greatly improved the working environment, making it a reliable power choice."

At this maritime exhibition, the QSZ13 high-power marine engine exhibited by Cummins also attracted much attention. This in-line 6-cylinder commercial yacht engine has a displacement of 13 liters and a maximum output power of 800 horsepower, which is suitable for high-speed boat applications such as yachts, leisure fishing boats and official boats. In terms of emission compliance, it not only meets China's Stage II and IMO Tier II emission standards but also has the capability to adapt to strict regulations such as US EPA Tier III, EU EU3A and RCD2.

"The QSZ13 engine has strong performance and better fuel economy. Coupled with Cummins' powerful after-sales service system, it has an excellent reputation at home and abroad." The evaluation of Li Qiuling, founder of Youde Yacht Co., Ltd., has become a vivid footnote to the market recognition of this marine engine. From QSK60 powering the voyage of offshore heavy-duty equipment to QSK50 and QSZ13 gaining popularity in segmented markets with localized advantages, Cummins is continuously injecting power into the high-quality development of China's shipbuilding industry with its full-range product strength.
