Cummins 2.5L/3.0L Engines Power the Launch of Dongfeng Qiankun
2026/4/3

Recently, Dongfeng Liantruck officially launched its new light-duty truck model Dongfeng Qiankun in Chengdu. Equipped with Cummins 2.5L and 3.0L engines, the new vehicle is deeply optimized for logistics scenarios in Southwest China, delivering an all-scenario operation solution that balances high efficiency and economic benefits for users.

Tailored for Complex Working Conditions in Southwest China

Fully Upgraded & Reliable Power Performance

Southwest China features diverse land forms, with frequent traffic congestion in urban distribution and long-distance intercity transportation demands. This places stringent requirements on vehicle power stability, scenario adaptability and overall reliability.

With sharp insight into market trends and user demands, the Dongfeng Qiankun fitted with Cummins 2.5L/3.0L engines debuts in Chengdu, offering customers a high-value transportation alternative.

Since its debut in China in 2009, Cummins light-duty engines have gained worldwide recognition for outstanding performance. To date, the China-manufactured Cummins 4-cylinder light-duty diesel engines have achieved a global cumulative sales volume of over 2 million units.

Dongfeng Qiankun is powered by Dongfeng Cummins D2.5 and D3.0 engines, realizing an in-depth upgrade in power matching and load capacity. Leveraging Dongfeng Motor’s profound market experience, combined with Cummins’ cutting-edge technologies and massive operational data in the light-duty engine segment, the two brands have achieved full-process collaboration covering vehicle development, integrated calibration and complete vehicle tuning.

The deep integration of the power train and the whole vehicle optimizes overall performance matching, enabling the truck to easily cope with complex transportation conditions across Southwest China.

In terms of power output, the 2.5L engine delivers a maximum power of 185 horsepower, while the 3.0L version reaches 210 horsepower. The low-speed torque is increased by 11% to 18%. Even under full-load conditions, the vehicle maintains steady power output on continuous mountain slopes and long-distance plateau sections, with quick response during start-up and climbing, ensuring reliable performance in all road conditions and long-haul transportation.

In addition, the engine cylinder block and cylinder head adopt a newly reinforced design. The power unit has passed more than 25,000 hours of bench tests, and the complete Dongfeng Qiankun vehicle has completed 500,000 kilometers of road verification. It fully adapts to heavy-load mountainous working conditions, ensuring strong loading capacity and stable driving performance to cover all urban distribution scenarios and expand profit opportunities for operators.

Fuel Saving & Cost Reduction to Improve Operational Efficiency

Effectively Solve Core Operational Pain Points

For logistics operators, cost control and vehicle attendance directly determine profitability. The hilly terrain of Southwest China sets higher standards for fuel economy and continuous operation capability. Balancing strong performance with controllable costs remains the core demand of local users.

Thanks to systematic optimization and deep power train matching with the Dongfeng Qiankun complete vehicle, Cummins 2.5L/3.0L engines deliver excellent fuel efficiency. Stable energy consumption is maintained on mountain slopes, congested urban roads and full-load routes, effectively reducing the total life-cycle transportation costs.

Meanwhile, relying on the comprehensive after-sales service network of Dongfeng and Cummins across Southwest China, rapid response is guaranteed for all user needs, supporting higher vehicle attendance rates in daily operation.
